The Light FM Trans World Radio Sister Station

West Africa Needs a Spiritual Oasis

You’ve probably heard distressing news reports from Nigeria: Boko Haram’s kidnapping of schoolgirls, attacks by nomadic herdsmen on church congregations.

Africa’s most-populous country has lots going for it, the continent’s dominant petroleum industry helping to fuel Nigeria’s emerging-power status on the world stage. But the division of the country between the mostly Muslim north and mostly Christian south is a factor in high poverty rates, education shortcomings and national instability.

The TWR (Trans World Radio) Oasis project features two AM radio stations covering West Africa, including the newly added 150,000-watt AM transmitter greatly enhancing its gospel broadcasting to Nigeria’s 190 million people.

10% of The Light FM’s Impact Days will go directly towards this project as you, The Light FM and TWR join hands to make this incredible project a reality.

Here are some recent comments from listeners of these stations across West Africa:

From Cote d’Ivoire, Africa -“I want to thank you for these wonderful words of encouragement today. I seek God with all the strength of my heart. Not having a church, I seek to educate myself in the Word through the radio in order to find out how to do the will of the Lord and thus be transformed.”

From Cote d’Ivoire, Africa -“Your message spoke to me today. I want to let go of my past life and follow your teachings. I want to follow what you instruct from the Bible. I am stubborn sometimes, but I want to change.”

From Mali, Africa -“I am a Muslim woman, but when I first listened to this program I immediately had the impression that Jesus Christ is the true God. The way he does miracles and how he speaks is unparalleled. I am a married woman living in a fanatical Muslim family. I can’t listen at home, but I always manage to be at work in time to listen in Bambara. Pray for me because I really want to understand the true path.”

From Mali, Africa – “I’m not a Christian, but with this program I have come to understand that Christianity is not really what we are told. I see a God of love. I feel comfortable when I listen to this program. The Bible is the true word of God. I never had the courage to read it, and now Thru the Bible Bambara has given me that courage.”

From Nigeria, Africa -“God bless you all for bringing the word of God to us in the Igbo language. We understand the word very clearly.”

From Burkina Faso -“Thank you for the drama programs. We’ve been waiting for this for a long time because I sometimes invite Muslim neighbors to listen. Many of them are Bambara speakers and they listen very well to the drama in Bambara. It’s good when they hear the message in their own language.”
